This book was a complete life change for me. My entire life I have always been moody, emotionally unstable, tossed to and fro by my thoughts, bubbling with enthusiasm one moment and then sulking in a stupor the next. My last relationship was destroyed by such a mindset. Although I had ideas of what had gone wrong, this book eloquently expounded on ideas that I had vague thoughts of, but was unable to put into words. The first time I was able to put the knowledge I learned from this book into practice was a emotionally explosive moment as I realized that I finally was able to control my thoughts and take a hold of my mind. Would highly recommend this book to any and all.

This is easily one of the best books that I have read. It isn't long, but it is packed with more information than you can wrap your head around. I have read it 4 times since I got it 3 months ago, and I am working on it again. I loved this book so much that when I was in the middle of the second chapter, I got back on Amazon and ordered another 2 copies of it. Then when I finished it I went to order 3 more but I couldn't because they were still sold out from the time that I ordered the other 2. So I had to wait for them to print more, then I did order 3 more, so I have 6 copies now and I don't regret it at all.It just feels like every paragraph is pure gold honestly, sometimes it took me 20 minutes to make it through one page because of the realizations that I was having, and I needed to take time to scribble my notes into the margins. There is nothing in this book that doesn't absolutely need to be there, so you can be sure that it is worth your time and you won't be reading any filler material whatsoever. This will change your perspective on life, and if you actually do the things that are here, you change yourself. I honestly saw a change in how happy I was by doing the things that James Allen said. This is basically scripture to me now.The only complaint that I have isn't about the book, it's more about me, because I wish that I was better at doing the things outlined in this book because I know that it would help me out a ton. So that is the next goal, make sure that I am doing the things here.

This is not a smooth, flowing read. It's full of words the average person doesn't use and speech patterns of a time now past. This may or may not be part of its charm and effect.It does however illustrate quite well the though patterns of the champions of our world and lay clear instructions for success in life. Quite simply you are what you think. It's not a book on getting rich or making friends or being happy. It's a book that reminds you of the basic principals of thought and how your thoughts effect every aspect of life. A short little reminder that your mind is your greatest asset or your biggest liability.

This is one the smallest books I've read in my life and yet most impactful and eye-opening book. This book put a lot of stress on an idea that Man is what he thinks he becomes and what he does and it's not the circumstances which make him but he makes the circumstance. If you are going through or ever been through a rough patch in your life you need to read this book. If you've ever been successful or are successful in your life you need to read this. If you are rich or ever have been rich, you need to read this book. If you are poor or was poor at one time in your life you need to read it. If you are depressed or have been depressed, you need to read this book and at-last if you are happy or were happy in your life you need to read this book. In short, no matter what the circumstance is you're going through, you need to read this book not once, not twice but at least a dozen times in your life!

I really love this book and it's teaching. I want to change my life in every area and it's up to me alone. It's teaching is very empowering. It's really up to me and when I change my mind I will change my life and it starts with my thinking. I bought 2 more books from my teenage nephews because the sooner they can learn to control their thinking and acquire what they really want out of life the better. I plan to read this book once a month for 6 month so the principles can sink in plus it's less than 80 pages.

This book packs more power than many of the best selling books in the crowded field combined. You will be better of reading this short book and following through on half of it than buying all of Robbins material and attending his seminars. Not that Tony Robbins and his colleagues does not have valuable lessons to teach, it's just that this book does such a great job in less than 50 pages that any other approach to self improvement seams a waste of time. Read it and then go do it.

I have no idea why I started reading this book, but I've got no regrets!I'd never heard of the movie before, but I found a copy online and started watching it. As soon as I heard the first awkward line ("Hey babe, I have something for yyuuuu!"), I had to pause the movie because I was laughing so hard I had tears in my eyes.I then went and got all of my coworkers and we dicked off work for 3 hours watching, pausing, rewinding, and rewatching it.So this book inspired me to watch the movie which inspired a thousand jokes, and now my wall at work is covered with Johnny memes. I've since recommended the book to 3 or 4 friends who have also downloaded and read it, and I would recommend it to you as well.

Greg Sestero has done something fantastic. He's managed to perfectly pinpoint all of Tommy Wiseau's eccentricities and show us exactly why we should care about him. Our dear Sestosterone is not only talented at growing beards and playing football, he's also a great and engaging writer. As a longtime fan of The Room, I really enjoyed the way Greg switched between talking about his early years with Tommy and the actual drama happening on the set of The Room. Each anecdote is better than the last.I think as fans we sometimes forget that these characters we see onscreen (and yell insults to on countless midnight screenings) are portrayed by actual human beings, separate from their characters. I loved reading about how Juliette Daniels ended up playing Lisa and Dan Janjigian's preparation for the Oscar-worthy role of Chris-R. The Disaster Artist has brought an entirely new dimension to The Room. The book's biggest feat was helping the reader understand Tommy Wiseau, as much as anyone can understand Tommy Wiseau. Some of the details that Greg shares with us break my heart. I now view Tommy in the same way one would view a vampire puppy-- with an equal mixture of "aw" and "eek".I can be sure that the next midnight screening I attend, I'll be giggling to myself over how long it took to shoot the famous, "I did naaht heet her" line. Or over the real reason why Peter was blinking so much. Or whether the enigmatic Chloe knows what obscenities audiences yell when they see her name appear onscreen. Without this book I would never have known that I've memorized The Room better than Tommy Wiseau. It was a fantastic read and I'm so excited to see what Greg Sestero does next!

I am a little bit obsessed with The Room. It's not a constant thing--I can go for months without watching it or talking about it or probably even thinking about it--but sooner or later, I find myself talking to a friend or acquaintance about my love of entertainingly bad movies, and I mention the The Room as being (in my opinion) the best bad movie ever made. Usually the person I'm speaking to will not have heard of The Room, or will have heard of it but not seen it, which immediately necessitates bringing up internet video footage and inevitably rekindles the obsession. Who is this Tommy Wiseau? Where did he get that crazy accent, how old is he, and how in the heck did he make enough money to pour six million dollars of his personal fortune into this movie, and what on earth was he trying to accomplish by doing so?If you have seen The Room, you probably already realize that the man behind the movie is a person who doesn't see things the way the rest of us see them. We see poorly-built sets, ill-fitting and unflattering costumes, stilted dialogue riddled with non sequiturs, rampant continuity issues, bad green screen special effects, nonsensical plotlines, and most of all, Tommy himself, who is probably the worst actor you've ever seen unless you attend a lot of middle school theater productions...and maybe even then. But, as this book very eloquently explains, Tommy saw something else entirely.If you are looking for pee-your-pants funny anecdotes about what it was like for Greg Sestero to be first Tommy's friend and then, eventually, his employee on the set of The Room, they're here. (He had to write down the code to his apartment's gate because he could never remember it--it was 1234!!) If you want to understand the many issues that plagued the production of The Room and how the thing got finished against all odds, that's here too. (Short answer: he's loaded. Money can fix almost anything.) If you want to understand who Tommy Wiseau is, that is probably an exercise in futility, but Greg Sestero does an admirable job in showing us his own understanding of that question, as well as some of how Tommy understands himself. (He's a vampire, obviously.) This was a very satisfying read that I think came as close to answering my questions about Tommy Wiseau as anything possibly could.Obviously it's easy to make fun of The Room, as I have done myself in my Amazon review of it. And there is a side to Tommy Wiseau that is very hard to like--manipulative, vain, secretive, annoying, argumentative, cruel, misogynistic, and insecure, and I think you can see aspects of that in The Room. But there is also another side to him, a side that's playful, naive, fun, and really kind of delightful, and I think that's why I keep coming back to The Room, because that side of him comes out in the final cut too. No one else could have made this movie because if anyone else tried, they'd know just how bad it was, and they wouldn't be able to stop themselves from throwing a little irony in there, letting you know that they know. The Room doesn't do that--it is utterly sincere in its awfulness, and that makes it kind of charming and really special. It is very difficult to coordinate the million details that need to come together to make a movie, as I knew even before I read this book, but Tommy Wiseau did that against all the odds, and I give him credit for that. I think very few of us who have enjoyed The Room ever suspected that Tommy Wiseau was trying to make a movie about the worst experience of his life, that he is Johnny in a very literal sense, and that he fully expected the audience to react to his movie the same way he had reacted to his reality. Of course they didn't...but they watched it and loved it anyway, and that is an accomplishment, even if it's not quite the accomplishment he was hoping for.Thank you, Greg Sestero, for writing this truly entertaining and illuminating book. And also for being Tommy's friend all those years and not murdering him and depriving the world of the amazing and unbelievable disaster that is The Room.

This is the second edition of a fundamental reference work in the social sciences. I'm one of those really weird people who finds literature reviews to be fun and interesting. I constantly write bibliographies and do an almost endless number of reading lists. How about reading projects? You bet. But if you don't have an inclination to look carefully at literature in your field or on a particular topic, this book can provide a helpful guide as to how to take each and every step in creating one yourself. Doing a literature review is a crucial part of any research project or it can be a project in and of itself. You need to become familiar with this book, either by doing purchasing a copy or checking it out of your university library.

Chris Hart's "Doing a Literature Review" emphasizes both the practical and theoretical underpinnings of constructing a thorough, well-organized, first rate literature review. It goes far beyond anything I was exposed to in graduate school (PhD in Sociology, UCLA). At 300+ pages of academic prose, it is not a quick read, but it is thorough and well-structured and aimed at the student or researcher who is striving to produce a thorough and well-structured literature review. The book has an English accent -- Hart is in the department of Advertising at the University of Chester -- by which I mean both that it is not necessarily 100% in line with (lower) standards in the US and that it is a bit formal. Nevertheless, I think it's would be a great reference for both students working on masters-level and PhD-level theses/dissertation literature reviews and for researchers producing standalone reviews. Recommended.

Reproducing research is fundamental in the sciences, but you want it to be deliberate, not by accident. Avoid repeating research that has already been done by Doing a Literature Review. Chris Hart defines the review and describes all the steps, always mindful of staying focused on your research goals. There are examples and helpful charts and checklists. This book is not much like other volumes that Merwin had already published. That says something about the time in which it was written. The poems are built from bare and austere images of things to signify a sense of loss most likely due to an early mid-life crisis magnified by the social crisis of the Vietnam War. These pieces feel incomplete and yet click with us if we have passed through similar periods.

This is a book that cemented Merwin's style and initiated themes that continued to evolve in subsequent works--topically elusive, void of punctuation. short lines and short poems, deeply rooted in nature and consciousness, building upon a participation mystique; this is one of the most significant and influential early deep-imagistic works. "Now all my teachers are dead except silence". The Lice first came out in the midst of Viet Nam and ecological crises, and re-issue at present regrettably is all too apt."When the war is over--we will be proud of course the air will be--Good for breathing at last..." I imagine these poems as prayers from the time of Neolithic hunters perhaps 30,000 years ago trying to understand an unknown and essentially unknowable animistic universe. One approach would be the Lascaux caves. These poems also could be their responses, shared around a guttering evening fire .perhaps in that same cave.
